Why Anarchy?

Why Anarchy?

Some young people choose to be Anarchists because it allows them to express their rebellion from their parents, and the society that they feel has rejected them. They’re thought pattern may include, “you think I’m ‘different’? You haven’t seen ‘different’!” Other people are Anarchists because they are like the youngsters, they want to be different. They want to be on the forefront of progression simply for the thrill of it. Like riding a wave to the shore; they get an adrenaline rush from the counter-culture’s ruffling of feathers among the elite and privileged who have cast this certain person out. Yet, others are Anarchists because from the time the wake, to the time sleep shuts their eyes, they see the inequality, the hatred, oppression, ugliness, and perversion of this culture and its world, and they can’t stand to be inactive. They have to be active, if only to show that they see what is happening and are doing their best to stop it, or lessen its blow upon their fellow brothers and sisters.

I chose to be an Anarchist because I was dissatisfied with the inner workings and misshapen ethics of the two-party system. I was frustrated that when I went to register to vote, I was told that if I registered as a Socialist, that I would forfeit my ability to vote in the primaries. This is their attempt to remove the power of every kind of Socialist. Our vote means nothing. I don’t want to be a Democrat because they are weak, and fail to understand that an entire overhaul of the system and demolishment of the State is required. I fail to see the appeal of the Republican party, when they are the current perpetrators taking away the rights of everyone! With they’re evangelistic super-churches urging their followers to hate and discriminate against anyone who is not like them, therefore less than them; and sending subliminal messages for their more aggressive followers to commit heinous acts of violence towards these “lesser-people”. Everyday I see the people left behind by our “Land of Opportunity”. I discover cases of people that “disappeared”, in this “Land of the Free”. Our bureaucrats are finding ways to get out of trouble, to not get caught committing crimes that should be considered treason. Ha, and they call this the “Home of the Brave”. The only people with any sort of opportunity are those of the “upper class”, the top 1% of this country who are given tax breaks on their millions and billions. The only free people are the heirs and heiresses to those fortunes. People like Paris Hilton, Suri Cruise. Suri Cruise is the toddler version of Paris Hilton. The homeless, the poor, and the blue-collar workers are the Brave of this country. They are the ones that make me proud to be working for the Anarchist cause.

All of these people are Anarchists. None of them are better than the last; they just choose to express their frustration in differing ways. Some may not stay in the movement forever, but they’re presence now, creates a ripple that sounds throughout the movement, therefore they will have a lasting impact no matter how long they live and work in the movement.

As Anarchists, these people understand that they have a great effect on the underprivileged peoples’ day to day lives. When you are being oppressed and you see someone fighting for you, it lightens your heart, if only momentarily.

We need to fight for these people who are unable to fight for themselves, or whose voices are being drowned out! We need to fight along side each other, to lighten each others hearts! We need to know we are not alone!

You are not alone, my comrade!

There Is No Race, Only Cline

Anthropologists have recently come to realize there really is no such thing as Race. Being racist is no longer possible. This probably means the Ku Klux Klan will become “clinist”. You’re probably wondering what “cline” means in the first place. The Merriam-Webster definition is: a gradient of morphological or physiological change in a group of related organisms usually along a line of environmental or geographic transition. A better understanding of anthropological clines can only be explained they way it was to me, originally. Clines offer a more decisive understanding of human evolution and natural selection. Clines better explain the occurrence of such common things as Sickle Cell Anemia, lactose intolerance, and the wide range of skin tones. Okay, let’s begin.

If you look at a globe (a 3-D globe that you can touch is preferable) that is divided using lines of latitude and longitude, you can better understand what I’m about to explain. We will start at the equator and work our way to the poles. What continents are closest to the equator? South America, Africa, and parts of Asia. These continents are also the hottest parts of the world. They get more sun exposure than any other continents. Our first topic was Sickle Cell Anemia. Over time the human body has been shown to adapt to weaknesses, favoring gene differentiation that protects the body from illness or harm of any kind. This favoring is better known as natural selection. In Africa there is a disease that is very prevalent and destructive to the human population in the area: Malaria. Yet, for some reason Africans are immune to Malaria. Why? Malaria is a virus that infects healthy blood cells, multiplies itself consequently killing the cell, burst forth from the cell, and the newly created malaria viruses travel to and infect adjacent blood cells. Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disease that weakens normally healthy blood cells, causing them to collapse into sickle shaped half moons and turn an oxygen-less blue color. These cells are ineffectual because they do not provide oxygen to the body. When Malaria infects a sickled blood cell, it cannot survive because it feeds off the cell. Therefore, even though Sickle Cell Anemia is not a great disease to have, this particular disease makes anyone who has it, immune to Malaria. Over time, the human body favored the gene with SCA, in order to protect the body from Malaria.

The second topic was lactose intolerance. Anthropologists have explained this using clines by saying that prehistoric (that’s when all of this began to evolve) peoples who raised cattle (therefore had access to dairy products), evolved to become lactose tolerant. Anthropologists are saying that originally we were all lactose intolerant, but when prehistoric peoples began to settle into communities and began working the land, they adapted to eating and drinking dairy products, therefore becoming lactose tolerant. This applies mainly to people in the European area and in areas where cattle (and other milk producing animals such as goats and/ or llamas) subsistence is high, such as Patagonia, Europe, and various select parts of Asia. Anyone with ancestors from these areas is most likely to be lactose tolerant. Anyone from a different, non-cattle-raising, area will most likely be lactose intolerant.

The third, and last, topic was the varied skin tones. This is quite easy to understand. For prehistoric humans to remain healthy their bodies had to produce Vitamin D. This can only be created naturally by the absorption of sunlight by the skin cells. Here’s how it works. The skin is hit by sunlight. The skin cells work to produce Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps strengthen nerve connections and increases bone density, making our bones stronger. Without it, we would be similar to old people who are frail (break their hips a lot) and who suffer from Dementia. Now, if you’re living in say, Morocco, you would be getting A LOT of sunlight exposure. This means you would have an over-production of Vitamin D, which is also not healthy for the body. The saying “the more the better” does not apply here, as with most vitamins. Way back during prehistoric times, the human body adapted to this over-exposure by darkening the skin. This darkening was caused by an increase of melanin. Melanin blocks out sunlight. Therefore the more melanin you have, the less sunlight you affected by. That’s why “black” people have to take Vitamin D supplements if they live in latitudes closer to the poles. The polar latitudes experience less sunlight, and this darkness of weather combined with the darkness of skin causes a lack in production of Vitamin D. Not good. In reverse, people living in latitudes closer to the poles have lighter skin tones because the weather is darker. Their bodies have less melanin so that more sunlight can be absorbed. Now, if someone from say, Norway were to move to a place close to the equator, they would have to constantly keep sun-block on or just stay in doors, because their bodies would over-produce Vitamin D due to the increase in sunlight exposure. You can even see an adaptation in just one summer, of the human body towards sunlight and Vitamin D. Even gotten a good tan? That golden one that just makes you glow? That’s your body saying its producing too much Vitamin D and therefore it increases the amount of melanin in your skin, to help block some of the sunlight you’re absorbing. Some people’s bodies can’t produce the melanin necessary, that’s why they are advised to stay indoors a lot. When they do spend a fair amount of time in the sun, they don’t tan, they burn. The body can usually protect itself from sunburn by an increase in melanin, but if you can’t produce melanin, you burn. See? Melanin helps two ways. It protects from over-production of Vitamin D, and protects the body from sunburn.

Isn’t it amazing how the body works to protect you, and you didn’t even notice it? It does all that work to keep you safe, and all of us are so unappreciative that we fill it with toxins and fatty foods that “taste good”. I know; I do it too. I love fried chicken, and sweet tea, and all of my Southern cuisine that is known for NOT being healthy. However, I’m eating more rabbit food…though I’ve always believed that as long as you use moderation, that you can live a healthy, tasty life.

Revolution

Revolution. Revolt. Why don’t we revolt? We haven’t been oppressed enough. Well, we have, but the American working class hasn’t fully caught on.

There are families who are living paycheck to paycheck. There are families standing in line at the local soup kitchen, trying to end the hunger that their job(s) won’t end. New Mexico has one of the best minimum wage rates, yet it is still not enough to pick our poor citizens up off the ground.

By the time I am 65, Social Security will be a mere memory; a memory of my youth. I do not feel Medicine is my calling; I feel law enforcement is, or military service. Living on the paycheck of a police officer, I will live hand to mouth. I am not bothered by that; that is the life I choose. What bothers me is that when I am old, I will have little retirement pay, and no Social Security; and I will have to choose between food and medication. I know I will need medication; I already have arthritis in my hands, neck, back, knees, ankles, and toes. It gets worse with moisture and/or cold. There are many people worse off than me. We have an elderly family friend who pays $1000/mo. for her medications. Even when she goes outside of the country she is still paying $500-$800/mo. She is living off her late husband’s retirement, a small amount of Social Security, but is also supporting a lazy child who refuses to move out.

I have a few young friends. I don’t suffer from ageism. I read one of their texts recently. I didn’t see a single word in it that was spelled properly. I was curious, so I asked them to write out, in proper English, what they had just typed. They couldn’t. I didn’t make them feel bad, why should I when it most likely isn’t their fault. When I was growing up I was fortunate enough to attend a Catholic school during my formative years. They taught me everything I needed to succeed. I was the epitome of a lazy student; I did my homework, but rarely paid attention to it. Yet, with my lax attitude, I still managed to learn what they were teaching. So did my fellow students. I am still in contact with some of them. When they leave me a written message, everything is spelled correctly; even the correct word is used. I also went to public school for one year. I made one friend while there. I still talk with her. She went to public school all of her life. I see many spelling errors in her messages. I don’t humiliate her; it’s not her fault. I know this because I know her; she is smart in many other ways, and she works hard to understand things that she needs to know. No Child Left Behind? I know several children who have been left behind. I’d bet my right leg there are many more in America; millions probably. I don’t think it’s just the kids being left behind though too; I think our teachers are being left behind also. They put up with arrogant and potentially violent students, for less than $30,000/yr. only in some areas are their salaries equal to $30,000/yr. More teachers are being murdered senselessly each year by students who are being left behind by our government and who are also being ostracized by other students. If they don’t kill themselves, they will probably kill fellow students and their teachers. With what I’ve seen so far, if I want my future kids to have a decent education, I need to work my ass off to pay for them to attend a private school. Do you see this happening on a police officer’s salary? I don’t either.

The queer community is the largest group of people in the workforce to be discriminated against. Women get it bad too, don’t get me wrong. However, they cannot be fired for just being a woman anymore. The queer community is subjected to unfairly delivered pink slips due solely to their sexual orientation or sexual identity. Ah, you say what about ENDA? Yes, you’re right; ENDA or the Employment Non-Discrimination Act ensures that lesbians, gays, and bisexuals cannot be fired due to their sexual orientation. What about that other part of the queer community, transgendered people or just transpeople? In the original ENDA they were included, but Senator Barney Frank and various others, cut them from the act, saying that they would only ensure the certain death of the act before it even reached the floor. What would they trip it as it walked down the stairs? Give me a break. Transpeople are the most discriminated against in the workforce. Not to mention the physical threats that are faced by many transpeople, who can’t even find justice by filing hate crimes charges. This will be the only time you hear me say “thank God for Bush.” Yes, you’d heard me right, I thanked God for Bush; more specifically his right to veto. He guaranteed to the public that he would veto the bill immediately after it hit his desk. Which means its still up in the air, it can still be altered to include transpeople for the second time. By the time it comes up again, there will be a Democrat in the house, and all of the current leading Democratic candidates have said they support queer rights. Sadly though, when it does arrive on the Senate floor again, if it doesn’t have transpeople included in it, they most likely won’t step up to defend their inclusion. They are the most silent of the queers because many try so hard not get read, or discovered for fear of discrimination. There are some transpeople who are “transwarriors”, like Leslie Feinberg, author of the awesome book Stone Butch Blues. Hopefully, by the time ENDA reenters the playing field, transpeople will finally have a voice, and a loud one at that.
So what is necessary for Revolution? Oppression. Is oppression current in our culture? Yes. So, why isn’t anything being done to overhaul the system? Because the masses of the Working Class haven’t been educated in the ways of revolt against oppression; they are led blindly, taught that “this is just the way it is”. They need to know that there is more to politics than democracy; there is Anarchy. We need to mass-copy the Anarchist Manifesto and throw the leaflets out into the streets for passersby to read, so they are enlightened. We need to reach out and grab the hands of the poor and the children that are being left behind, lift their burdens, and teach them the values of Anarchism. We need to step up, or more accurately, step onto the factory floor, and preach our most powerful word: Revolution.
